Arlacel 165 is a non-ionic, self-emulsifying oil-in-water (O/W) emulsifier system widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. It is a balanced blend of Glyceryl Stearate (lipophilic) and PEG-100 Stearate (hydrophilic), designed to create stable, smooth, and elegant emulsions.

This ingredient is considered an industry-standard emulsifier for creams and lotions due to its ability to produce lightweight, silky, and stable textures.

Recommended Usage

• Thick creams: up to 15–25% (depending on system)

👉 Usually used:

• Alone (self-emulsifying system)
• Or combined with fatty alcohols (Cetyl / Cetearyl Alcohol) for better thickness

Formulation Insight

• Works best for oil-in-water systems (high water content)
• Not suitable for oil-only or anhydrous systems
• Requires proper heating:
  • Oil phase: 70–75°C
  • Water phase: 70–75°C
• Add emulsifier in oil phase

👉 For better results:

• Combine with 0.5–3% fatty alcohol
• Adjust viscosity separately (carbomer, gums, etc.)
